Late last night we received some new bees and a new queen - Rick brought down from Auckland - a replacement hive full of bees and along with them a new queen bee.
The other hives we had have no bees left due to the attacks by wasps and the queen also had been killed.
Now we will watch with interest as to how the new hive fares - the new bees will raid the other old hives to clean out the honey and build their own hive’s supply of honey - food for them whilst they are gathering pollen and honey.
Once we get some fine weather the new hive will be split in two and another queen added to the second hive.
Notice in the image of the new hive there is newspaper at the bottom - it covers the entrance to the hive in an effort to stop wasps being able to get in.
