Sailing on the Coromandel

There is a new option if you want to go sailing whilst holidaying in the Coromandel region.

If you are looking for a sailing experience while staying on the Coromandel Peninsula we guarantee these guys will send you back happy and relaxed.

The scheduled trips are very good value at $80 per person, departing at 10am and 2pm. Their catamaran "Fully Charged" is spacious, stable, fast and smooth. The soft decks have beanbags making it a very comfortable platform for relaxing and spreading out. They take small groups of up to 12 so there is plenty of room on board. Guests can kick back in comfort or get hands on and help sail the boat. If weather allows, a snorkel in the marine reserve or swim at cathedral cove is optional. All snorkeling gear is provided.

The 10am and 2pm trips depart from Whitianga and sail the bay to Cathedral Cove. They are 3 hours in duration. During Dec-Feb they also offer a 2 hour evening sunset cruise, departing from the beach at 5:45pm (also $80 per person). This trip has no set destination, as they harness the wind to catch the best sailing breeze and soak up the scenic views.

On the morning trip they serve complimentary freshly brewed coffee or tea and a baked snack. The afternoon and sunset trip includes complimentary seafood nibbles accompanied by a New Zealand wine, beer or organic juice.

You can leave Waihi Beach Lodge after a leisurely breakfast and be in ample time for the afternoon sailing as well as taking in the sights of the Coromandel on the way up.
