Over the last month or so we have had 5 or 6 Swiss couples - it is great to see and long may they keep coming.
Recently we had a young couple stay with us and he was working at a nuclear power plant as an apprentice engineer - I did not relate to Switzerland having nuclear power - I related banking, watches and swiss chocolate - the guests we have at present told us nuclear power is on the way out - gone within 25 years.
One thing we have gleaned from the Swiss is the number of languages they speak - Swiss German, German, Italian, French and English as well as many dialects - and another fact re language - most Germans can not understand swiss german - they would have to be immersed in a city/town that spoke this language to pick up all the nuances and local sayings.
And most of us kiwis can only speak English - thank heavens for the app Google Translate.
