Recently we have had guests from Ohio and Montana visiting and finding out all about Southern Coromandel. They really enjoyed the Martha gold mine as one of the party was a professor in geology so the goings on at Martha were right up his alley. The group took a mine tour to get up and personal with gold and silver and came away very pleased they had done so.
The next stop for the group was the Karangahake gorge where they explored the history of gold mining back at the turn of the last century - facinating and relaxing at the same time. One of the group was a keen trout fisherman and he took quite an interest in the Ohinemuri river as it meandered through the gorge.
