Rainy days does not mean there isn't anything to do in and around Waihi Beach - there are plenty of dry options and a couple not so dry.
- Drive up to Waihi and take a gold mine tour – 2 hours followed by a visit to the award winning Gold Discovery Centre. Both can be organised at the info centre in Waihi.
- Visit the Artmarket in Waihi and check out local art.
- Visit the Athenree hot pools and have a long relaxing soak –
- Visit the Waihi Arts Centre and museum
- Day trip to Thames taking in the gold mining history of yesteryear.
- Day trip to Waitomo visiting the glow worm caves and doing a 3 hour tour to 2 caves – approx 2 hours driving each way.
- Whilst on the trip to Waitomo visit the Kiwi House in Otorohanga just 10 minutes from Waitomo and check out many New Zealand’s native birds.
- Day trip to Tauranga & Mt Maunganui for a day of retail therapy – ask Ali for tips..
- Check out movie options in either Thames or Tauranga.
- Take a day trip to the mineral spa town of Te Aroha and have a long relaxing soak.
- Visit the historical Athenree Homestead and enjoy morning or afternoon tea.
- Check out Greg & Ali’s DVD collection.

- Ask Greg & Ali about using some board games – Sequence, Quiddler etc.
